Served up a slice

Hot ass humble pie was served up to City this past weekend. The Johnson County Sundogs put another well deserved notch on their belt, plucking a victory from the Kansas City R.F.C. 25-8.

Not what we had hoped for obviously.  City was beaten soundly at the breakdown by the Sundogs, turning over too much possession and squandering easy scoring opportunities in route to their second straight loss to Johnson County.  County is no slouch team however, and full credit should go to this scrappy Division II side that has been representing Kansas City very well in recent years at the D II level.  They’ve finished in first place in the HOA for the past four years and look to have the depth and experience to advance Nationally this Spring.

Man of the match honors were bestowed on Aaron Haehn.  His play at scrumhalf was outstanding, his kicking game from the back of the ruck relieved much needed pressure that City was putting on County throughout the match.

Numerous possession was stolen in the set piece by KC and things looked promising for the home side.  At times City’s scrum was totally dominate.  Equally dominate however in the breakdown were the Sundogs.  Every time City seemed to threaten their line they would patiently recycle and eventually pluck the ball and Mr. Haehn would pin City deep.  Mike Haase receives Man of the Match for his outstanding play for KC.  It’s obvious how special of a player Mike is.  He does all the dirty work that usually goes unseen to the average person’s eye.  When he’s on the field it makes everyone else’s job so much easier.

In the second match City started off with the same side they finished with and were determined to make a better showing.  Immediately the boy’s in red, white, and blue were knocking on the door and scored numerous tries in the first 10 minutes.  The subs soon came pouring on and the much needed mental satisfaction of actually moving the ball down the field was contagious.  Everyone started to get in the act, the final tally would be over 40 on County’s extra’s with not one point relinquished.

Sorry no tries recorded-dog ate my pen!
