KANSAS CITY RUGBY

Meet the Rogues

The Rogues are Kansas City Rugby Football Club’s second side. The club’s developmental players aspiring to wear the hallowed red, white and blue hoops don the Rogues’ red and black on Saturdays, usually minutes after City’s contests at the same venue.

From 2007-2013, the Kansas City Rogues Rugby Football Club operated independently, playing in the Heart of America’s third division. The Rogues were routinely talented and competitive, embodying the inclusive and social spirit of club rugby. During the summer of 2013, the Rogues and City mutually agreed to a one-year trial merger, and it proved extremely successful, with the Rogues winning all of their divisional matches and City reaching the National Playoffs for the first time in over a decade.

Players and management worked very well together for the 2013/2014 season, and at the 2014 annual general meeting unanimously voted to make the marriage a long-term arrangement. KCRFC’s second side will wear the Rogues colors and logo, allowing the group of people who helped propel City back into its winning ways to keep the legacy of their club of origin alive. It also serves as a reminder that, in the game of rugby, there’s room for everyone.
